time spreads its twisted roots
throughout layers of the conscience,
and ears hear the call of memories
long-past, but obscured by clouds.
despite the fog, heartstrings are tugged
upon by long-dormant wisps
wishing to be revived and contemplated
before fading away once more.
we are lingering here, but only for a moment.
grief sits beside us like a long lost friend,
but it becomes far too much to bear.
so we step out of the clouds
and drape hand-made veils
over our faces to hide tear-stained cheeks.
